Nona Hatay is one of the rare people able to capture Jimi's magic and spirit in beautiful pictures.

NONA HATAY'S EXPERIMENTAL PHOTOGRAPHS and PhotoArtWorks are famous all over the world. They are among the most important visual interpretations of Jimi Hendrix. Hatay was inspired-after photographing a 1969 Hendrix concert-to expand the original images so they would represent his unique sounds. Multi-printing, solarizing, hand-painting, and toning while listening to Hendrix's re-cordings, she created an original link between the two arts-music and photography. Recently, Hatay has been experimenting with new technologies, taking the al-ready expanded images to a new dimension with computer manipulations.

"Jimi's music and philosophy was about stretching the boundaries of the art form, coming up with something new. I've done PhotoArtWorks on other subjects over the years, but I keep coming back to the same original negatives of Jimi with a new perspective. His music is a great source of creative inspiration."

Nona Hatay has produced over 500 one-of-a-kind PhotoArtWorks in the last 25 years. Published in books and magazines worldwide, they are on permanent display at the Electric Ladyland Studio in New York, are featured at Hard Rock Cafes in Japan, Singapore, Mexico, Europe and the United States, and hang in many private collections and museums.

90 of the best are in this book, sequentially following Hatay's career from black & white white experimental prints through her innovations with hand-coloring and computer technology. Many new images, never published before, are presented for the first time. Nona Hatay's art is accompanied by rare Hendrix quotes, interviews, and lyrics and by comments on Hendrix by his family, friends, fellow musicians and fans, offering new insights into the man and his music.

Superbly designed by award-winning book designer Arnold Skolnick, creator of the original Woodstock poster, this fine art book is a visual delight. It will appeal not only to people interested in the art of photography, but to all who appreciate the music and spirit of the great Jimi Hendrix.

Jimi once said, 'When I die I want people to play my music, freak out and do anything they want to.' Nona's work is a shining example of Jimi's hopes. Her work is essential for all those who love Jimi, love music and appreciate art.
