Sony PlayStation SCPH-1000 – Original 1994 Japanese Launch Model
For sale is the original Sony PlayStation SCPH-1000, the very first retail PlayStation model released in Japan on 3 December 1994.
This is not a later SCPH-5xxx, 7xxx or 9xxx revision. The SCPH-1000 is the original launch hardware that started the PlayStation era and is now a highly interesting piece for collectors of Sony and retro gaming history.
The PlayStation was first released in Japan in December 1994, before its later launches in North America and Europe in 1995. Sony's official history confirms the Japanese launch date of 3 December 1994.
