IBM 5162 XT286 vintage AT

IBM 5162 XT286 vintage AT IBM 5162 XT286 vintage AT Arcade & Retro

For sale a nice and rare IBM 5162, the 286 in the classic PC case. If you are into IBM, the you'll know about this one, so no need to explain.

Everything is completely original and appears to not have been messed around with since it was bought. From the original content of the hard drive it seems this was used mainly as a word processing machine.

Everything working as it should. Had the original Seagate 20Mb hard drive low level formatted and checked by Speedstor. No defects found. Has the full 640k RAM and the original IBM MDA monochrome adapter with parallel port (text only) and an original IBM serial card (25pin). 1.2Mb floppy drive working fine and reading both HD and DD disk without a problem.

Hard drive has the authentic IBM DOS 3.20 on it and some software but not much at the moment. I can put software on it if required. I can also include some floppy disk. It also includes the setup disk required to change the BIOS settings (in German language though).

The battery is still working and keeps the settings. The DOS date and time is wrong though and needs to be set again. I just picked 1987 I think :)

Also the original cork feet are present, but I forgot to take a photo.

As this thing is heavy, I'm going for collection only, from South Galway.

PS: monitor or keyboard not included
This is a vintage computer that's nearly 40 years old so no warranties...only because it was working today doesn't mean it will tomorrow!

Any questions, ask below.
Cheers!

@Renaldas.S: it must have been a tantalum capacitor. Exactly the same thing happened to my one last week. Hadn't turned it on in about 3 years.

Not sure, I bought it in non working condition. Tried to power it up and I think a resistor/ transistor blew up.

I have an original ibm 5151with monitor and keyboard, started restoring the keyboard but never finished it, and dont know enough about old computers to restore the pc itself. Would be sick to see it running!
