The BYD SEALION 5 DM-i Comfort brings BYD's advanced Super DM-i plug-in hybrid technology into a practical, stylish family SUV.

It is designed for drivers who want to experience the smoothness and refinement of electric driving without giving up the freedom of a petrol engine for longer journeys. Plug in at home, make use of electric power for your everyday driving, and keep the petrol engine available when you need to travel further.

For modern Irish motoring, that flexibility makes a lot of sense.

SUPER DM-i PLUG-IN HYBRID TECHNOLOGY

The SEALION 5 Comfort combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and BYD Blade Battery technology.

The system produces 156kW of total system power, with the electric motor delivering 145kW and 300Nm of torque. The Comfort is front-wheel drive and uses an automatic transmission, with 0–100km/h taking approximately 7.7 seconds.

The Comfort's 12.96kWh Blade Battery provides up to 62km of WLTP combined pure-electric range, allowing many regular journeys to be completed using electric power.

When the battery needs support, the petrol engine provides the additional flexibility to keep travelling. BYD quotes a combined WLTP range of up to 992km.

That means the SEALION 5 can work particularly well for an Irish driver who commutes during the week but regularly makes longer journeys around the country.

A PROPER FAMILY SUV

The SEALION 5 has been designed around everyday practicality.

It provides seating for five passengers and offers 463 litres of boot space, expanding to 1,410 litres with the rear seats folded.

The Comfort is the entry specification of the SEALION 5 range, but it still delivers the core Super DM-i technology, distinctive BYD interior and strong standard equipment.

The Design model is also available for customers looking for additional equipment, including the larger 18.3kWh battery, up to 86km of electric range, 360° camera, front parking sensors, electric tailgate, heated front seats and wireless smartphone charging.
