Vintage 1982 Takamine G330 Lawsuit Era Dreadnought Rare Solid Spruce Top Martin D-18 Clone
Up for sale is a fantastic piece of acoustic guitar history: a 1982 Takamine G330 "Lawsuit Era" dreadnought. For those unfamiliar, this is the famous highly sought-after clone of the iconic Martin D-18. It features the highly collectible, squared-off headstock and horizontal gold script logo that prompted Martin to issue a famous cease-and-desist letter to Takamine in the early 1980s.The "Sleeper" Solid Wood Top:While standard G330 labels from this era did not feature the "S" suffix, this particular 1982 model was built with a solid spruce top. You can clearly see the tight wood grain running continuously straight through the inner edge of the soundhole—it is absolutely not a laminate. Over the last 40+ years, this solid wood has aged beautifully, giving the guitar a massive, matured acoustic resonance and punch that completely outplays its price point.
Condition:
The guitar is in overall great vintage condition for being over 40 years old. It has been well-loved and cared for.
Cosmetics: Minor surface swirl marks and light handling wear as expected for its age, which only add to its vintage character. No cracks or structural damage.
Playability: The neck is straight, the frets have plenty of life left, and the action is comfortable across the entire fretboard.
Sound: Deep, resonant, and punchy. It delivers about 90% of the vibe and tone of a vintage Martin D-18 at a fraction of the price.
