Martin D35 Brazilian Rosewood Beauty
Here we have the real deal. A 1969 Martin D35 with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. It sounds incredible. As you can see by the photos it has amazing weather checking and the lacquer has crackled all over the body. It was originally owned by a guy in North America so the climate has checked the original nitro finish all over. This is not a fake Gen Z relic job, this is genuine wear and tear from 56 years of being a guitar that has been constantly played and out of its case. The guitar plays amazing and the action is low and its set up great so it needs nothing for years of enjoyment as it is now but the original bridge has been shaved down on it to lower the action and keep it playing beautifully so if you wanted to get it back to the original Martin specs the bridge would need to be replaced with a full height replica and then it would probably need a neck reset to get the action set up right. Neck resets are eventually needed on all guitars so if you know vintage guitars you know that it's not an issue to get one done and actually increases the value of the guitar. There's about 700 euros worth of work to be done to get it back to original Martin specs but it plays perfectly now as it is. Some people might want to refinish the guitar but the checking is all part its history and I love it. You can't fake a finish like this. It has a couple of repaired back cracks with one being cleated inside for extra security. Again it's very rare to get a vintage Brazilian Rosewood guitar without repairs as Brazilian is so prone to cracking. All in all this is a fabulous sounding piece of history with a lifetime of stories in its nitro finish. A clean Brazilian Rosewood D35 even with repaired cracks would cost at least €8500 in a vintage guitar shop with TFOA in Holland selling them for over €10000 so it's at a bargain price.
