Harmony Cremona IV Archtop - early 1940s
For your consideration is this 1940s Harmony Cremona IV. These were Harmony's "top of the line" archtops in the 1940s being all solid guitars with carved tops. Sounds wonderful, acoustic or plugged in. Birds eye maple back, sides, carved spruce top. Thick maple neck with a Brazilian Rosewood fretboard. Original tail piece which looks like the same rosewood. The wooden tailpiece indicates it was a wartime model (as opposed to pre 1940), prior to this they had metal tailpieces but due to the aul World War they had to save metal. Serial number stamped inside, visible through the F hole (but nearly impossible to get a photo of with my phone)
The guitar was previously modified to include a nice P90 pickup, some Gibson deluxe tuners and some vintage Charlie Christian knobs. The frets have been dressed and the guitar plays very well all over the magnificent Brazilian Rosewood fretboard. Also, this guitar has been refinished in Blonde, from its original burst finish.
Bit of a chunky neck and I have baby hands, can still knock out a few tunes from it but it would suit someone else. Given the guitar itself is 80+ years old it has a few minor cracks on both the top and the back but these were repaired by the previous owner and are completely solid. Tried to capture them in the photos.
Comes with a hardcase. Viewings welcome.
