Gibson SJ-200 Studio Rosewood, 2022, with LRBaggs pickup

Beautiful Gibson SJ-200 Studio Rosewood from 2022, in excellent condition with only minimal signs of use.

Solid spruce top with solid rosewood back and sides. I bought this guitar new from a shop in Germany, where I had the chance to compare it with around ten different SJ-200s, including maple Standards and more expensive models. This particular guitar was easily my favourite.

To my ears, it has a warmer, softer and sweeter sound than the typical maple SJ-200. The Studio body is slightly shallower than the standard SJ-200, which makes it a little less booming and much easier to control. The notes stay clear and separated rather than getting lost in a huge wall of sound. It's particularly nice for singing and accompanying vocals.

Another nice feature is the high-gloss nitro finish, which is quite unusual on the Studio Rosewood, as most of them are satin finished. It looks fantastic in person.

The guitar is very comfortable to play, with low action and an easy neck. It also feels surprisingly light and resonant for such a large guitar.

Factory LR Baggs pickup fitted. Simple, reliable and sounds very good plugged in.

Comes with the original Gibson hard case and accessories. The guitar itself is in excellent condition; there is just a small scratch on the case.

Overall, this is a really special SJ-200 and one I'm genuinely sorry to let go. If you're looking for the big Gibson jumbo character but prefer a warmer and more controlled rosewood sound, this one is well worth trying.
